Charity projects launched to mark the Shastipoorthi of Metropolitan H.G. Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius
Bhilai: A splendid and solemn ceremony at M.G.M. Senior Secondary School, Bhilai marked the Shastipoorthi of H.G. Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius, the Metropolitan of Calcutta Diocese and Director of St. Thomas Mission Bhilai. Humanitarian projects such as Home for homeless, sick aid, educational aid and marriage aid worth rupees sixty lakhs are instituted as part of Shastipoorthi. One homeless family was blessed with a home as Shri. Vidhyaratan Bhasin, MLA gave the keys of the house to the head of that family. Four more houses shall be donated as part of the yearlong programme. Marriage aid for a girl was presented by Shri Tamradwaj Sahu M.P. A book about the contributions of Mar Dionysius was released by Shri Kodikunnil Suresh M.P. St. Thomas Archives which is meant to show case the history of the Diocese and Mission was also inaugurated .
The Shastipoorthi celebrations had a grand take off with the welcome dance of MGM School students. Shri. Prem Prakash Pandey, Honorable Minister for higher and technical education charmed the occasion as Chief Guest. C.G State. Rt. Rev. Robert Ali, Bishop of Chhattisgarh Diocese of CNI delivered the blessing address. Former central minister Shri Kodikunnil Suresh M.P., Shri Tamradwaj Sahu M.P., Shri. Vidhyaratan Bhasin, MLA and Shri Devendra Yadav , Mayor of Bhilai graced the occasion as guests of honour.
Leaders of different cultutral and religious organizations like Kerala Samajam, YMCA, SNGS, Ayyappa, Sewa Sanghom, CCA and ECF and representatives of various Churches and institutions felicitated the Metropolitan.
H.G. Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius Metropolitan, who is also the Manager Bishop of M.G.M Group of institutions, expressed gratitude to one and all. Fr. Kurian John welcomed the gathering and the vote of thanks was proposed by Fr. M. J. Mathew. The programme ended with Catholicate anthem and National anthem after which all joined for the sumptuous love feast.
