MAR GREGORIOS ORTHODOX CHRISTIAN STUDENTS & YOUTH MOVEMENT

The 29th Annual Conference of the MGOCSM and YM was held at Christian College of Enginnering & Technology (CCET), Bhilai under the patronage of St. Thomas Mission, Bhilai and Calcutta Diocese. It was hosted by CCET MGOCSM unit. The theme for the conference was “Love your #Selfie” and the theme bible verse was “I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me” (Phil 4:13). H.G. Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius, metropolitan of the Diocese of Calcutta was present throughout the conference. The main speakers for the conference were Rev. Fr. Philip Kuruvilla, Ex Bursar of the STOTS, Nagpur and Rev. Fr. Dr. Bijesh Philip, Principal of STOTS, Nagpur.  The conference began with the celebration of the Holy Qurbana celebrated by Rev. Fr. Philip Kuruvilla. The conference flag was hoisted before the inaugural session. The Diocesan Secretary, Very Rev. Thomas ramban, welcomed the guests as well as the delegates of MMS and MGOCS & YM in the inaugural session.  There were 5 main sessions based on the theme. Rev. Fr. Philip Kuruvilla dealt on the topics: i) Love your Selfie, ii) Love, iii) I can do everything through Christ and Rev. Fr. Dr. Bijesh Philip also dealt on the theme. Rev. Fr. Dr. Joshi Varghese dealt with topic ‘Christian response to Social Media’.

A panel discussion was organized where contemporary issues related to young people were discussed and deliberated. The host unit conducted various group activities. The Raipur MGOCSM unit led the conference with melodious songs. Various inter unit competitions were held: Group song competition, Documentary competition, Mime competition, Collage making competition and Bible quiz competition. H.G. Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius led one of the evening devotions and interacted with the delegates in another session. Rev. Fr. George Varghese, Rev. Fr. Kurian John and Rev. Fr. Lijo John led morning and evening devotions. The sacrament of Holy Confession was also arranged for those who came prepared for it. On the concluding day the business session was held in which the units read out their annual working report and handed overhe same to the diocesan metropolitan. Few of the delegates gave feedback about the conference. The prizes for the competitions were given away in the closing ceremony. The details of winners are as follows:-

MGOCSM unit of Mar Gregorios Orthodox Cathedral, Bhilai bagged the overall championship trophy for the year 2019.

Very Rev. Geevarghese Ramban, Very Rev. Thomas ramban, Rev. Fr. Jose K Varghese, Rev. Fr. George C Varghese, Rev. Fr. Kurian John, Rev. Fr. Dr. Joshi Varghese Rev. Fr. Jeffin Varghese, Rev. Fr. Aju K Varghese, , Rev. Fr. Jobin Abraham, Rev. Fr. Biju Daniel, Rev. Fr. Anish Joseph, Rev. Fr. Lijo John and Rev. Fr. Shinu Cherian were present during the conference. 200 delegates from 13 parishes of the diocese attended the conference.

In the closing ceremony Rev. Fr. Jobby Peter, Vice President of MGOCS & YM, proposed the vote of thanks. President Thirumeni lowered the conference flag and Catholica Mangalaganam was sung.

കുവൈറ്റ്‌ : ക്രിസ്തീയദർശനത്തിൽ അടിവരയിട്ട്‌ പറയേണ്ടുന്ന ചിന്തകളാണ്‌ ആരാധനയും ആതുരസേവനവും. ജാതി-മത-വർഗ്ഗ-വർണ്ണഭേദമില്ലാത്ത തരത്തിലുള്ള സാമൂഹ്യസേവനം നമ്മുടെ ഉത്തരവാദിത്വമായിരിക്കണമെന്നും, അത്തരത്തിലുള്ള പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളിലെന്നും കുവൈറ്റിലെ ഓർത്തഡോക്സ്‌ ഇടവകകൾ മുൻപന്തിയിലാണെന്നും മലങ്കര സഭയുടെ പരമാദ്ധ്യക്ഷൻ പരിശുദ്ധ ബസേലിയോസ്‌ മാർത്തോമ പൗലോസ്‌ ദ്വിതീയൻ കാതോലിക്കാ ബാവാ പ്രസ്താവിച്ചു. കുവൈറ്റിലെ ഓർത്തഡോക്സ്‌ ഇടവകകളുടെ ആഭിമുഖ്യത്തിൽ ജൂലൈ 30-ന്‌ കോട്ടയം പാത്താമുട്ടം സ്തേഫാനോസ്‌ മാർ തിയഡോഷ്യസ്‌ മെമ്മോറിയൽ മിഷൻ സെന്ററിൽ സംഘടിപ്പിച്ച 5-‍ാമത്‌ കുവൈറ്റ്‌ ഓർത്തഡോക്സ്‌ കുടുംബസംഗമത്തിന്റെ ഉത്ഘാടനം നിർവ്വഹിച്ചുകൊണ്ട്‌ സംസാരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം.

ലോകത്തിലേറ്റവും വിശിഷ്ഠമായ സർവ്വകലാശാല നമ്മുടെ ഭവനങ്ങളാണെന്നും, ബാല്യകാലത്ത്‌ അവിടെനിന്നും ലഭിക്കുന്ന പാഠങ്ങൾ നമ്മുടെ വ്യക്തിവികസനത്തിനും വളർച്ചയ്ക്കും ഇന്ധനമാണെന്നും, അത്തരത്തിൽ വളർന്ന്‌, പിന്നീട്‌ ഉത്തരഭാരതത്തിൽ മലങ്കരസഭയ്ക്ക്‌ അഭിമാനമായി മാറിയ സ്തേഫാനോസ്‌ മാർ തേവോദോസിയോസ്‌ പിതാവിനു ഒരു ശാശ്വതസ്മരണയെന്ന നിലയിലാണ്‌ ഈ മിഷൻ സെന്റർ പാത്താമുട്ടത്ത്‌ പ്രവർത്തിച്ചുവരുന്നതെന്നും ബാവാ തിരുമേനി ഓർമ്മപ്പെടുത്തി.

കൽക്കത്താ ഭദ്രാസനാധിപൻ ഡോ. ജോസഫ്‌ മാർ ദിവന്ന്യാസിയോസ്‌ മെത്രാപ്പോലീത്താ അദ്ധ്യക്ഷത വഹിച്ച സംഗമത്തിൽ മുൻ ഡി.ജി.പി. ഡോ. അലക്സാണ്ടർ ജേക്കബ്‌ ഐ.പി.എസ്‌. മുഖ്യപ്രഭാഷണം നടത്തി. സെന്റ്‌ തോമസ്‌ മിഷൻ കുവൈറ്റ്‌ സോൺ കോർഡിനേറ്റർ ഷാജി എബ്രഹാം സ്വാഗതവും, മത്തായി റ്റി. വർഗ്ഗീസ്‌ നന്ദിയും പ്രകാശിപ്പിച്ചു.

സെന്റ്‌ തോമസ്‌ മിഷൻ നടത്തിവരുന്ന ജീവകാരുണ്യ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളേയും പുതിയ പദ്ധതികളെയും സംബന്ധിച്ച റിപ്പോർട്ട്‌ സെന്റ്‌ തോമസ്‌ മിഷൻ ഡയറക്ടർ ഫാ. ഡോ. എബ്രഹാം ഉമ്മൻ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു. കുവൈറ്റിലെ ഓർത്തഡോക്സ്‌ ഇടവകകളെ സംബന്ധിക്കുന്ന റിപ്പോർട്ടുകൾ ഇടവക പ്രതിനിധികളായ ജുബിൻ പി. ഉമ്മൻ, രാജീവ് വഞ്ചിപാലം, ലിറ്റി എം. ടോം എന്നിവർ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു.

കുവൈറ്റിലെ വിവിധ ഓർത്തഡോക്സ്‌ ദേവാലയങ്ങളുടെ മുൻ വികാരിമാരും, പ്രവാസജീവിതം മതിയാക്കി നാട്ടിൽ സ്ഥിരതാമസമാക്കിയവരും, വേനൽ അവധിക്കാലം ചെലവഴിക്കാൻ നാട്ടിലെത്തിയ ഇടവകാംഗങ്ങളും സംഗമത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുത്തു.

International Eco Conference in Chennai Gets Underway: Calls for Swift Action to ‘Greening the Globe for Sustainable Living”

Key note address by H.G. Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius Metropolitan

A four- day long International Eco- Conference was inaugurated by Most Rev. P. C. Singh, the President of the National Council of Churches in India and the Moderator of the Church of North India at the CSI Synod Centre in Chennai. The Conference has been organized by the consortium of Higher Educational Institutions of the Church of South India (CSI). “In the year 2025, the level of Co2 in the Atmosphere will increase to 500 ppm (part(s) per million) due to various anthropological activities, but the allowable range is only 50ppm!”, cautioned Prof. Dr Joseph Mar Dionysius Metropolitan; the Vice-Chairperson of the Ecological Commission of the Orthodox Church, during the inauguration session. Rt Rev. Dr Vadappally Prasada Rao, the Deputy Moderator of the Church of South India, presided over the meeting. Rev. Dr Daniel Rathnakara Sadananda, the General Secretary of the Church of South India, welcomed the dignitaries and delegates who are consisted of the Scientists, Research scholars, and Eco activists from across the globe.

MGM GROUP OF SCHOOLS CONDUCTS PRE-PRIMARY TEACHERS’ WORKSHOP

Two days workshop for Pre- Primary teachers was organised by MGM Group of Schools at CCET ( Christian College of Engineering and Technology) Bhilai. About 100 teachers from 18 schools attended the workshop led by Mrs. T. Raja Rajeswari , an eminent educationist and mentor. The sessions aimed at empowering the teachers with various education modules and strategies for effectively moulding the Pre Primary kids. The interactive sessions empowered the teachers to identify multiple intelligence, behavioural problems, learning readiness,interests and skills of the kids.
The participants who were from from MGM sr. Sec. School Bhilai, Mar Baselios Vidhya Bhavan Bhilai, MGM Public School Bhilai, MGM School Rajnandgaon, MGM HSS Raipur, MGM HSS Bilaspur, MGM HSS Korba, MGM School Kamilini, MGM HSS Jagdalpur, MGM School Ashoka Garden Bhopal, MGM HSS Bhopal, MGM HSS Itarsi, MGM HSS Dawakalan, MGM HSS Sarni, MGM HSS Dhanpuri MGM English School Rourkela, MGM School Chend and St. Mary’s Ranchi expressed much appreciation for the enriching sessions. 


Fr. Jose K Varghese, Fr. Kurian John, Fr. M.J. Mathew, Fr. Joshi Varghese and Fr. Aju K Varghese gave leadership for the programme.

 

NEW SCHOOL INAUGURATED AT BURHAR, DHANPURI

 

 H. G. Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius consecrated and blessed the newly built school at Gopalpur Road, Dhanpuri, Shahdol (dist.) on 18/03/2017. It was the long cherished dream of late lamented H.G. Dr. Stephanos Mar Theodosius to start another school at the small town of Shahdol district. Mar Dionysius, president of MGM Group of Schools took the initiative to fulfil the dream of his predecessor. His Grace lit the lamp and cut the ribbon, in his opening speech he prayed that the light of knowledge will spread all over the area through this temple of knowledge.

 

In the public meeting organised after the consecration ceremony Fr Giju George (Vice-president) welcomed all the distinguish guest and thanked all the invitees for their presence. He thanked all the Priests who contributed in the past for the development of the project. He also thanked the parish members and the school managing committee members for their contribution in different stages.

 

Mar Dionysius in his public speech highlighted the achievements of the mission schools established under the umbrella of St Thomas Mission, Bhilai. This Thirty fourth school of the Mission society will give the best education to the children of the society. He thanked vice- president and managing committee members for their contribution. In his speech Mar Dionysius applauded the teachers of MGM SCHOOL DHANPURI for their contribution to the development of the school. Fr Aju K Varghese (Treasurer, St Thomas Mission), Fr Varghese P Joshua (Bilaspur) Fr Robin Varghese (Marthoma church) along with parish members graced the occasion.

 

Early morning His Grace celebrated Holy Qurbana at Mar Gregorious Orthodox Church, Dhanpuri. It was the historic day for the Calcutta diocese and St Thomas Mission.

ARCHBISHOP H.G.DR.JOSEPH MAR DIONYSIUS ON EPISCOPAL VISIT TO NAGALAND FROM 10TH MARCH TO 13TH MARCH.

His Grace Dr.Joseph Mar Dionysius, the Archbishop of Calcutta diocese under the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church will be visiting Nagaland from 10th March to 13th.The Diocese of Calcutta is spread over ten states from Nagpur (Maharastra) to Nagaland. Under his able leadership there are more than 22 Higher Secondary schools, an engineering college, Christian College of Engineering and Technology(CCET, Bhilai) , ST. Thomas College (which offers graduation to Ph.D), St.Thomas B.Ed college and more than a dozen mission projects for the upliftment of the down trodden.

Evening at 4.30 Consecration of newly built shrine in front of MGOS Church.  On 12th morning 7.30 Morning Prayer followed by Holy Communion and consecration of renovated Shrine at Midland junction at 11.30.

H.G.DR.JOSEPH MAR DIONYSIUS CONSECRATRED NEW SHRINE AT DIMAPUR

Arch Bishop Mar Dionysius consecrated new shrine In front of the  MGOS Church, Midland on Saturday evening after evening prayer. The new shrine was blessed and dedicated in the name of Mother Mary. Bishop congratulated all who have labored behind the construction.

ARCH BISHOP MAR DIONYSIUS CONSECRATED RENOVATED CROSS TOWER AT MIDLAND JUNCTION

Arch Bishop Mar Dionysius consecrated renovated cross tower at Midland junction on 12th Sunday. MGOS Church Midland originally constructed and dedicated the cross tower in1988, by Bishop Mar Coorilos. Renovation work started in August 2016 and completed by January 2017.During Bishop visit on today it was consecrated and dedicated for the people.

Dimapur: H.G.Dr.Joseph Mar Dionysius, Manager Bishop of MGM group of institutions blessed and inaugurated new auditorium at MGMHSS on 11th morning after the Governing Body meeting of newly built MGM College. The new auditorium has been named as MAR THEODOSIUS MEMORIAL AUDITORIM, who was the founder Bishop of MGOS Church and MGM Hr Sec School.
